As Chelsea continue to work in the summer transfer window, a timely boost may be about to arrive for Xabi Alonso and the Blues’ transfer team
Trevoh Chalobah’s potential transfer to Como would bank Chelsea a healthy Financial Fairplay Boost. Chalobah has been heavily linked with a move to Cesc Fabregas’ side.
He has emerged as a transfer target for the Serie A team, who qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history last season. The England international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for the last few seasons.
Due to the fact he came through the Chelsea academy, a big sale would boost the Blues’ transfer coffers significantly, as the full value of a transfer would be marked down as “pure profit”. This is a huge bonus for Xabi Alonso’s side, as pure profit transfers are healthy from a Financial Fair Play perspective.

Football London understands Como have bid £23.3million including add-ons for Chalobah. This transfer offer does fall short of the Blues’ valuation of £35m including add-ons.
Chelsea are yet to respond, but Como’s interest in the versatile defender is concrete. The 26-year-old’s future in west London has been uncertain for many years.

After he was sent on loan to Crystal Palace at the start of the 2024-25 campaign, many believed his time with the club was all but over. However, despite not being used by then manager Enzo Maresca during Chelsea’s pre-season tour, Chalobah was called back to the club after an injury crisis in the defence.
He made 47 appearances for the west Londoners last season, contributing three goals. However, Alonso’s side are currently in the process of adding more steel to their back-line.
Ironically, they are working on a deal to sign Maxence Lecroix, a player who arrived at Palace in the same transfer window as Chalobah. Chelsea made an official enquiry for the former Wolfsburg defender.
French outlet L’Equipe have also claimed Lecroix is expected to move to the Bridge for around £47.4million, but any deal looks far from complete. He would be Chelsea’s second confirmed signing of the summer, should it be completed.
The Blues recently reached an agreement to sign Atalanta defender Marco Palestra, a right-back who was named as the Serie A’s best defender of last season. Former Brighton and Hove Albion defender Valentin Barco is also expected to arrive from Strasbourg this summer.
The Blues have also said goodbye to Marc Cucurella, who departed Stamford Bridge to sign for Real Madrid in a deal believed to be worth £51.8m.
