The Tottenham Hotspur attacker was left unhappy with the way he was dealt with by the north London club during the transfer window
Manor Solomon has hit out at the way Tottenham dealt with him last summer as the winger looks for a new club in this transfer window.
football.london reported this week that Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has told Solomon that he is not part of his plans for the season ahead and that he can leave the club. The 26-year-old has played only six competitive matches for Tottenham since arriving in 2023, with three different loan moves after a knee injury in his first season at the club.
Solomon had hope that his former Shakhtar Donetsk coach De Zerbi might use him in his overhauled squad next season, but instead the Italian informed him that his future lies elsewhere and Spurs will try to find the Israel international, who has two years left on his contract, a new club this summer.
Now in an interview back in homeland with Sport 5, Solomon has opened up on his disappointment with how a loan move to Crystal Palace fell through last summer under former Spurs chairman Daniel Levy after an impressive season at Leeds, then the mess of his loan to Villarreal before switching to Fiorentina midway through the season.
“I really connected with Leeds, it’s a club that will always be in my heart. Especially the crowd, which is amazing. When I went to the first game and heard the Leeds crowd, I said to myself ‘I’ve come to the right place’. At the end of the season I wanted to be at Tottenham or Leeds,” said the winger.
“The chairman talked about me, the price was high. We had a conversation with Tottenham before arriving for training, they said they wanted me to stay and the coach likes me and after six training sessions I got injured. The interest from Leeds decreased and at the end of the window, when I returned to play, the coach saw me again and I had a conversation with him because I had an offer from Crystal Palace. He told me he wanted me to stay.
“We had already left everything in London and the next day I flew to the national team. I landed and got a call from [my agent]. He was nervous and said that they had the possibility of signing a French striker, Daniel Levy spoke to him and they need to clear a player on the squad and it was probably me. I told him ‘Come on shut down Palace. I don’t want to be in a place like this’.
“There were negotiations between the teams and there was probably bad blood there and the deal fell through in the last few hours. I’m on the national team, I was done from that day on. The transfer window is over, I didn’t want to stay at Tottenham. I was offended by them. When you feel like you’re being pushed out, you don’t want to stay in a place like this. At the end of the transfer window in Spain, Villarreal arrived. They asked me if I wanted to and if I did, there’s no time for anything. I told them ‘Shut down.'”

Solomon immediately felt he had made a mistake with the switch to Spain and explained how he first felt it.
“How I got there. When you come from England and everything is arranged. When you sign, you get sent a message from a thousand and one places. The media guy, the team manager, the doctor… You’re so surrounded,” he said. “In Spain, no one spoke to me, except the coach who spoke English. Luckily, there was an Israeli who worked in Spain and arranged everything for me. Otherwise, you’re on your own. And this is a club that plays in the Champions League. That’s how it’s done.”
On his future being away from Spurs, he added: “I went through a lot of things with them that disappointed me. On the other hand, people change. Daniel Levy, who didn’t agree with Palace, left the day after. It still tickles me that I didn’t have the opportunity to succeed at Tottenham because I’m sure I could have done it.”
