Arsenal were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final and the French club have now been handed a ban and a fine
Paris Saint-Germain have been hit by a fine by UEFA following the actions of supporters during the Champions League final against Arsenal. PSG have also been handed a suspended ban by European football’s governing body.
The Gunners were on the receiving end of a dramatic defeat by the French club in the final in Budapest last month.
Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw with PSG in Hungary in last month’s Champions League final, before going on to lose 4-3 in the subsequent penalty shootout.
Following the game, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) launched an investigation and came to the conclusion to hand PSG both a ban and a fine.
PSG have been handed an €80,000 (£69,000) fine by UEFA for the “lighting of fireworks”, and have also been given a one-match ban from away fans attending matches.
This ban, however, has been suspended by UEFA for two years, meaning it won’t come into effect for next season.
UEFA have also handed PSG a €10,875 (£9,380) fine for the “throwing of objects” by the Ligue 1 club’s supporters.
As a result, it means that PSG have been fined a total of €90,875 (£78,380) by UEFA for the two offences, but the suspended ban on selling tickets to away supporters will not come into effect for the 2026/27 campaign.
The statement from the CEDB read: “To fine Paris Saint-Germain €80,000 and to ban Paris Saint-Germain from selling tickets to its away supporters for the next (1) UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks.
“Said ban from selling tickets to its away supporters is suspended for a probationary period of two (2) years, starting from the date of the present decision.

Arsenal will return to European action in next season’s Champions League, and it remains to be seen if they will be drawn against PSG again in the league phase of the competition.
Mikel Arteta and Co. will be hoping to enjoy another successful season next term, where, despite not winning the Champions League final, they still emerged as Premier League champions.
The draw for the league phase of the Champions League will take place in August, where Arsenal will be in pot one for the draw and will be alongside Liverpool, Manchester City, PSG, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.
