The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) says vessels travelling through routes outside its designated framework will not be covered by safe passage guarantees.
In a brief message on X, the PGSA said: “Any passage through routes outside the framework designated by PGSA will not be covered by safe passage guarantees and will not be entitled to insurance coverage or related liabilities.”
It said the message was issued in response to multiple “inquiries”, and comes after a Singapore-flagged vessel was attacked off the coast of Oman earlier today.
“The consequences arising from passage through unauthorized routes shall be the responsibility of the owner, operator, and vessel commander,” the PGSA said.
