The Atlanta Falcons have announced that tight end Kyle Pitts has signed a three-year contract extension worth $54million.
The news, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, comes after Pitts agreed to play on the franchise tag earlier this offseason.
But now, the star going into his sixth season has inked a deal that makes him the third-highest paid tight end in the sport.
At an average annual value of $18million per year, he sits only behind Arizona Cardinals star Trey McBride and top-earner George Kittle, the San Francisco 49ers target that takes home an average of $19.1m a year.
According to Schefter, this is the largest three-year contract for a tight end in NFL history.
