Ahead of the 2026/27 football season, several clubs across Europe have already strengthened their squads with new signings, while others continue to scout the market for reinforcements.
Nigerian players have also been caught up in the transfer frenzy, with a number of them securing moves to new clubs. Perhaps the most notable transfer involving a Nigerian so far is Zadok Yohanna’s switch from Swedish side AIK Stockholm to Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.
With the summer transfer window still open, more Nigerian stars are expected to be on the move in the coming weeks.

Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor)
Onuachu’s future remains bright but move away from Trabzonspor somewhat uncertain following a superb campaign in which he finished as the joint top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig, sharing the honour with Istanbul Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov.
Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli reportedly had a bid for the 32-year-old rejected in January.
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan also disclosed recently that the club turned down an offer worth nearly €20 million for the former KRC Genk forward.
However, reports suggest that Trabzonspor could be willing to part ways with the prolific striker should they receive an acceptable offer this summer.
Kelechi Iheanacho (Celtic)
Iheanacho is still awaiting clarity from Celtic over his future at Parkhead. The striker joined the Scottish Premiership champions on a one-year deal last summer, with the club holding an option to extend his stay by a further year.
However, Celtic have yet to make a decision on whether to retain the forward, leaving his future uncertain ahead of the new campaign.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a productive 2025/26 season, scoring nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops.
Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan)
The talented winger spent last season on loan at Premier League side Fulham from AC Milan.
However, the Whites opted against activating the purchase option in Chukwueze’s contract, bringing his spell at Craven Cottage to an end.
Milan recently appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, but it remains unclear whether the Portuguese tactician sees the 27-year-old as part of his plans for next season.
Emmanuel Fernandez (Rangers)
The centre-back enjoyed an impressive debut season with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers following his arrival from League One club Peterborough United last summer.
Fernandez won the club’s Player of the Season award and also earned a place in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.
The 24-year-old has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham United and Everton.
However, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly leading the race to secure his services.
Femi Azeez (Millwall)
The 25-year-old was one of the top performers for Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship last season. He registered 11 goals and eight assists in 37 matches for the Lions.
Azeez also earned recognition on the international stage, making his debut for Nigeria in last month’s Unity Cup clash against Zimbabwe.
Millwall reportedly rejected a €20 million bid from newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town for the winger last month, although the Tractor Boys are expected to return with an improved offer.
Brighton & Hove Albion have also been linked with a move for the former Reading star.
Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge)
Raphael Onyedika is expected to leave Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge this summer after rejecting the club’s offer of a contract extension.
He has just one year remaining on his current deal and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are among the clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old midfielder, while several Premier League sides are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
Terem Moffi (OGC Nice)
Moffi spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese champions FC Porto from Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.
However, uncertainty continues to surround his future after Porto opted against activating the €8 million purchase clause included in the deal.
Nice co-president Maurice Cohen revealed in April that the striker is not expected to return to the club.
Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade and newly promoted Ligue 1 side Troyes are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the 27-year-old.
Ryan Alebiosu (Blackburn Rovers)
The right-back has been tipped to leave Blackburn Rovers after just one season at Ewood Park.
Alebiosu caught the eye with his impressive displays for the Blue and Whites last season, registering one goal and five assists in 41 Championship appearances.
Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are reportedly exploring a move for the defender as a replacement for their departed captain, James Tavernier.
Chibuike Nwaiwu (Trabzonspor)
Premier League side Fulham are reportedly monitoring the progress of the centre-back, who only joined Turkish outfit Trabzonspor from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC in January.
Nwaiwu played a key role in Trabzonspor’s successful Turkish Cup campaign, featuring prominently alongside fellow Nigerians Paul Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme.
Tolu Arokodare (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
The striker could be on his way out of Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The 25-year-old is attracting interest from Turkey, with Süper Lig giants Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor reportedly keen on securing his signature ahead of the new season.
