Former Super Eagles star Ifeanyi Udeze has described South African standout defender Ime Okon as a replica of Nigerian football legend Taribo West.
Udeze shared his insights on Sporty TV World Cup coverage regarding Okon, a player of Nigerian descent representing South Africa at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
He was outstanding in South Africa’s 1-1 draw against Czechia in their second group B game at the tournament on Thursday.

The former PAOK defender praised the Bafana Bafana center-back for his composure, agility, and distribution, noting that the young defender plays with the same level of strength and class that characterized Taribo West.
”He’s (Okon) a very good player; I’m happy with him,” Udeze said on Sporty TV.
”He has become a key player for Bafana Bafana. He defends very well. Whenever he plays, he is never under pressure.
”Very composed; the way he holds the ball and the way he distributes the ball is class to watch.
”When I watch him play, I see another Taribo West. Very strong, very agile. He’s very intelligent; he can play from the back and link up with the attack.”
