US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said that “without Israel, the United States would not exist”, during his participation in a settlement conference held on Tuesday evening at Herodium National Park, about 6 kilometres southeast of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.
According to Maariv, the event was titled the “International Conference on Israeli Heritage and Archaeology in Judea and Samaria” — the biblical term used by Israel for the West Bank.
In his speech, Huckabee said: “My role is not only to represent the United States in Israel, but also to convey Israel’s importance to the United States.”

Addressing Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, in remarks that appeared to indirectly respond to comments made earlier the same day by US President Donald Trump, Huckabee added: “It is your heritage, without a doubt, but it is also the heritage of the United States. Without Israel, without the Jewish foundation, there would not be America.”
He continued: “We owe our very existence to what happened in this land.”
Huckabee, who has served as ambassador since April 2025, made the remarks hours after Trump, speaking on the side-lines of the G7 summit in France earlier the same day, said: “Without me and without the United States, there would be no Israel.”
