A teenage girl was allegedly gang raped after men broke into her home and stormed her room. Police confirmed four men have been arrested following the reported attack on Saturday, May 9.
It’s reported that the victim, 14, was sleeping when the attackers entered her room and raped her at around 2am. They then fled the scene before the girl reported what had happened to her parents. The police were informed and an urgent investigation was launched. Police have since arrested four suspects and they remain in custody.
As reported by the Daily Express in Malaysia, the alleged rape took place in the Malaysian village of Jalan Segama. The gang broke into the victim’s home before taking it in turns to rape her.
According to the publication, the 14-year-old was asleep in the early hours of the morning when the men entered her room. They fled the property after the attack and the teenager reported the alleged rape to her family.
Police then launched an immediate investigation and manhunt for the suspects. District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin confirmed three local men and a foreign man have been arrested in connection with the attack.
The suspects reportedly face between eight and 30 years behind bars for the alleged attack. The police investigation remains ongoing and the men will appear in court at a later date.
Local police have since advised parents and families to monitor their children’s social interactions. They are also urging them to prevent their “involvement in inappropriate associations and unhealthy social activities.”
The reported rape took place in Jalan Segama. The village is located in the Lahad Datu area of Malaysia, connecting Kampung Batu and the Lahad Datu Bypass.
