The United States has rejected a formal request from the Israeli government to review the memorandum of understanding being developed between Washington and Tehran, according to Hebrew media reports.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Israel had submitted an official request to the United States to examine the memorandum of understandings taking shape between Washington and Iran, but the request was refused by the US side.
The broadcaster said the move indicates that Israel still does not know the full details of the agreement, which is expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he would hold a press conference on the agreement with Iran, stating that he would “read the document word for word”. However, he did not specify when the full text of the agreement would be made public.
The planned Iran-US agreement to end hostilities, expected to be signed on Friday, has triggered widespread criticism within Israel, including criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Critics have accused Netanyahu of deepening Israel’s dependence on the United States, failing to influence the decision-making process and causing a strategic setback.
Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said that coordination with Washington is important, but “the dependency that has developed is dangerous and irresponsible.”
