A four-year-old British boy has tragically died after falling into a swimming pool at a holiday home near Costa del Sol.
The alarm was raised around 8.30am this morning at a rural property in the village of Periana, which belongs to Spain’s La Axarquia region and is approximately 30 miles north-east of Malaga.
Police and paramedics raced to the property and a helicopter was also mobilised as part of the emergency response.
Tragically, nothing could be done to save the youngster’s life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Civil Guard have launched a probe into the tragedy, but well-placed sources said there was nothing at this stage pointing to any criminality.
