Three transfers Arsenal can complete today as Morgan Rogers deal gets seal of approval

The summer transfer window is officially open and Arsenal are interested in a move for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers

The summer transfer window officially opens on Monday, and Arsenal are set for a busy few months. The Gunners will be recruiting from a position of strength as reigning Premier League champions.

Mikel Arteta was able to rely on the club’s impressive squad depth to end Arsenal’s wait for a league title, and his team also came agonisingly close to lifting the Champions League trophy. However, the manager will be eager to build on his side’s momentum through the transfer window.

Following the Champions League final, Arteta said: “We start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. And we’re going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it’s going to demand to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”

football.london understands that Arsenal are interested in Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers and the Gunners have also been linked with other moves at the start of the transfer window. Here is a look at three possible deals Arsenal could aim to complete this summer.

Morgan Rogers

Villa midfielder Rogers has been heavily linked with Arsenal following his standout campaign with Unai Emery’s side. The versatile 23-year-old, who scored 14 goals and registered 12 assists last term, is currently competing with Jude Belligham to start for England at the World Cup.

The Athletic has reported that Villa could demand £100million for their star asset. Rogers is claimed to be open to a move away, though he is not pushing to leave Villa, and the England international has already received a seal of approval from ex-Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal.

“Morgan Rogers is also fantastic and he has had a really good season,” Monreal told Rekatochklart. “He has done well for Aston Villa and he is a top player we are talking about.”

Former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit echoed Monreal’s thoughts. The Frenchman believes Rogers will provide Arteta with more tactical options and backed the transfer target to bring something different to Arsenal’s attack.

“We need powerful players. Morgan Rogers is one of them,” Petit said to BetVictor. “He’s got pace, he’s very powerful physically, and he’s good technically, so he will bring qualities that can be missing sometimes up front for Arsenal.”

The Europa League winner has flourished as an attacking midfielder and off the left flank during his time at Villa. Meanwhile, Rogers has insisted he is not distracted by the speculation over his future as he focuses on England’s World Cup campaign.

Bradley Barcola

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is another player who has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. The 23-year-old has earned a spot in France’s World Cup squad, but his future at PSG is reportedly uncertain.

L’Equipe has reported that PSG would not oppose selling Barcola this summer. Talks over a new contract have stalled, and Arsenal have been linked as a possible destination, despite manager Luis Enrique wanting to keep the player.

The France international has two years left on his deal and is also said to be admired by Liverpool. Arsenal opting to sign Barcola, who featured 49 times for PSG last term, would freshen up the Gunners’ options on the left wing and add another proven winner to Arteta’s squad.

Ayyoub Bouaddi

With Rogers and Barcola adding to Arsenal’s frontline, Ayyoub Bouaddi would bring solidity in midfield. The 18-year-old has played a starring role for Lille in the last two seasons as his game continues to improve.

Arsenal assessed a possible move for the teenager at the start of the year. In February, it was reported that Arsenal had held initial talks with Bouaddi’s entourage during the winter transfer window, though no move materialised.

The midfield prospect has begun showcasing his ability on the world stage after playing a key role in Morocco’s draw with Brazil. Lille reportedly valued Bouaddi at £60m before the tournament and his price could increase throughout the summer. While Arsenal may have to fend off PSG in the race for his signature, Bouaddi could become an important long-term part of the Gunners’ midfield.
