Nigerian athlete Princess Uche has capped off a remarkable collegiate season with a series of outstanding achievements for Iowa Track & Field, establishing herself as one of the program’s top performers and earning national recognition in the process.

Sports247 reports that the Iowa junior enjoyed the finest campaign of her collegiate career, highlighted by significant personal bests, championship success, and a coveted First Team All-American honor at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Uche’s breakthrough moment came in the women’s 400 metres, where she clocked a personal best of 52.10 seconds, becoming the seventh-fastest performer in Iowa program history.
The performance marked the first time she had broken the 53-second barrier, a milestone that reflected her growth and consistency throughout the season.
Her success extended beyond the 400m. Uche also recorded a personal best of 1:27.83 in the 600 metres, moving into fourth place on Iowa’s all-time list.
These performances cemented her place among the university’s most accomplished athletes and showcased her versatility across sprint events.
The Nigerian international also played a key role in Iowa’s relay success. She was part of the team that captured the 4x400m title at the prestigious Drake Relays, one of the most celebrated competitions in collegiate athletics.
In recognition of her character and contributions both on and off the track, Uche was named the recipient of the Iowa Women’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, further highlighting her impact within the program.
The season reached its pinnacle at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where Uche helped Iowa secure a fifth-place finish in the women’s 4x400m relay.
Running the crucial third leg, she contributed significantly to the team’s season-best performance of 3:25.10, earning First Team All-American honors alongside her teammates.
