A huge number of armed police and a SWAT team have responded to a domestic incident in Arlington, Texas, just over a mile from the AT&T Stadium where England kick off their World Cup campaign against Croatia, according to Arlington Police Department
A Swat team and a large contingent of armed officers have descended on an incident just over a mile from where England are set to kick off their World Cup campaign.
Scores of Arlington Police vehicles were spotted lining West Division Street in the Texas city on Monday, a short distance from AT&T Stadium, where the Three Lions face Croatia in two days’ time.
An officer at the scene described the alleged incident as “pretty serious”, with a weapon brandished by a suspect.
Police snipers, an armoured BearCat vehicle and police drones were all deployed at the scene, with a significant number of officers dispatched to the area.
A spokeswoman for the Arlington Police Department confirmed the force were dealing with a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at a residential address.
She added: “The female resident was barricaded inside the home with additional occupants.
“The report shows that a weapon was produced but no injuries were reported. The suspect is now in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”
There is nothing to suggest the incident was in any way linked to the World Cup or that it posed any threat to the tournament or its venues.
