Amidst the rowdy and raucous celebrations after the New York Knicks ended their 53-year title drought, a pair of fans took a different tack rather than rampage through the city.
Fans poured into the streets across the Five Boroughs to express their joy that the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in a five-game NBA Finals series to bring home their first title since 1973.
But while many of the scenes captured on video and posted to social media were those of destruction, other fans offered a helping hand to keep the streets clean.
A video posted to TikTok showed a pair of Knicks fans helping to throw garbage into the back of a sanitation truck.
The two were joined by a sanitation worker as they threw bags of waste into the truck located outside the popular Greenwich Village restaurant Dante.
A caption on the video read, ‘we’re all family in this house,’ while tagging the Knicks and the NYC Sanitation department accounts.

Social media praised the fans for helping to clean up the city in a time of great celebration.
‘Nothing [but] love in nyc good to see,’ wrote one user on X.
Another wrote, ‘Lmaooooo not even surprised, the love out there was too pure. I was out there hugging and hi-fiving everybody.’
‘Those some brave dudes because ain’t no way you catching me barehanding bags of garbage on the curb,’ one comment read.
These fans’ reactions vastly differed from others as signs were torn down, trash was thrown everywhere and a school bus in Times Square was ripped apart and set on fire.
Additionally, at 2:00am, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the left foot in the popular tourist hotspot.
In spite of all the madness, NYC Sanitation workers were able to completely clean up the worst-hit parts of the city in Midtown Manhattan by 8:00am.
There will be further cleaning in their future as Lower Manhattan hosts a ticker-tape parade through the Canyon of Heroes this Thursday.
