At least 17 people were injured after a tourist train overturned in a Spanish city this weekend. Emergency services were called to the Spanish city of Cartama, located some 10.6 miles from Malaga, after the incident happened shortly after 9.30pm local time (8.30pm BST) on Saturday.
Chilling pictures from the scene show the wagon of the tourist train overturned and lying on one side in the middle of Santo Cristo road. The cause of the incident is still unknown, with authorities only stating at the time the train overturned as it was turning at a crossing. More than a dozen people were left hurt in the incident, and emergency crews attended to them at the scene.
Four, including three children, were later taken to a nearby hospital. Local authorities said none of the injuries are believed to be serious.
At least 30 people were on board, the BBC reports, when the incident happened.
The train service has been suspended for the weekend, and police are now investigating the incident.
The tourist train helped mark la Ruta de la Tapa y el Coctel, which encourages people to visit different local businesses in the city to try their products.
This festival takes place every year between June 10 and 14 and sees the train stopping at various establishments, with tourists provided with a map highlighting the many venues.
Cartama is located near two areas very popular among Brits – Malaga and the resort town of Marbella.
