Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says a memorandum of understanding with the US has not yet been signed, but that the proposed agreement would announce an end to the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Speaking to Iran’s Press TV, Araghchi said the MoU also covers the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the US naval blockade against Iran.
He said Washington would pledge not to start a war or use threats, while the US and Iran would commit to respecting each other’s sovereignty and avoiding interference in each other’s internal affairs.
Araghchi said negotiators had changed the text of the MoU several times. He added that the nuclear file had been pushed into a second phase because Tehran rejected Washington’s demands at this stage.
“The US nuclear demands were not acceptable to us at this stage at all,” he said.
Araghchi said the agreement would also cover Lebanon, adding: “We will never leave Lebanon alone.”
