US President Donald Trump says there is now a “very strong” and “detailed” memorandum of understanding outlining a possible agreement with Iran.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said the framework has been endorsed by multiple countries that have “great influence” over Tehran.
He described the agreement being finalised as “great” for both the United States and the wider Middle East, adding that it would also benefit Iran because “they’ll be able to build up their country”.
Trump also said that if the deal is signed, a potential US invasion of Iran’s Kharg Island would no longer be under consideration.
While no date has been set for the signing of the agreement, Trump said he expects it to happen soon.
