Former Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has been denied parole almost five years after he killed a woman and her dog in a high-speed car crash.
Ruggs was denied the chance to get out of prison early by the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners on Thursday.
The former first-round draft pick was taken into custody on November 2, 2021 after driving his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph in the city.
He then crashed into a car belonging to 23-year-old Tina Tintor. Tintor and her dog, Max, subsequently died after her car burst into flames.
Ruggs and his girlfriend were seen drinking at a TopGolf location on the Las Vegas strip in the hours before the crash.
After refusing to take a field sobriety test, a blood test taken two hours later revealed Ruggs’ blood alcohol content to be .161% – more than twice the legal limit in Nevada.
