Iran has not yet made a final decision on a potential agreement with the United States, according to the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Speaking in comments carried by the state-run IRNA news agency, the spokesman said Tehran’s position would be announced only after the relevant authorities complete their review of the draft text.
“Once the relevant authorities reach a conclusion on the details of the draft text of an agreement, Iran’s government will make a formal announcement,” he said.
The remarks appear to contrast with US President Donald Trump’s earlier assertions that a deal is close and has received approval from Iran’s highest levels of leadership. There has so far been no official Iranian confirmation of those claims.
