Micky van de Ven’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain, with Real Madrid the latest club to be linked with a move for the Dutchman over the weekend
Micky van de Ven continues to be linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur. The defender’s Spurs future has been the subject of speculation for some time, with Liverpool named as a possible destination.
However, the Sunder Mirror reported over the weekend that Real Madrid were looking at the possibility of signing the Dutchman this summer. The report claimed that the La Liga giants are keen to strengthen their backline under new boss Jose Mourinho.
Van de Ven’s agent, Jose Fortes, gave an interview with Spanish outlet Marca last year where he admitted that a move to Madrid could be on the cards in the future.

He said, “Micky also has the quality to play for a big club like Real Madrid someday. Besides, Madrid needs a defender with his characteristics.”
Spurs, it has been claimed, would want £75m for the defender this summer, but the speculation could open an opportunity for Roberto De Zerbi to strengthen his own squad in the form of a swap deal.
The Spanish outfit are thought to be close to signing Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer from Liverpool, and the arrival of Van de Ven, too, would likely result in some players leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.
Dean Huijsen left Bournemouth last summer to complete a £50million move to Madrid but endured a difficult debut season with the La Liga outfit.
The defender made 40 appearances for Madrid and was handed 24 starts in La Liga during Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa’s time as manager.
Raul Asencio is another player whose future at Madrid could be in doubt following the arrival of Konate and the potential signing of Van de Ven, with the 23-year-old only featuring 23 times in La Liga last season.
Antonio Rudiger’s future at Madrid has also been in doubt for several months, with the former Chelsea star’s contract set to expire at the end of the month.
However, there have been reports that Rudiger will sign a one-year extension to remain a Madrid player. This, though, could give the Spanish giants the chance to receive a fee for the 33-year-old rather than letting him leave for free in 12 months’ time.
