Ngozi Okobi Refuses To Give Up On Super Falcons Return After National Team Recall

Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has revealed that she never lost hope of returning to the national team despite spending time away from the squad.

Speaking after her recall to the Nigeria women’s national football team, Okobi admitted she always believed another opportunity would come if she continued working hard.

“I never gave up hope of returning to the team,” Okobi said.

According to the experienced midfielder, patience, consistency, and hard work kept her motivated during the difficult period away from the national side.

“I kept believing the opportunity would come again,” she implied.

Okobi also praised the balance between experienced and younger players currently within the Super Falcons squad.

“The blend of old and new players is very good for the team,” she noted.

The midfielder stressed that every player performing consistently for their club deserves the opportunity to compete for a place in the national team.

“If players are doing well for their clubs, they will always have a chance,” she added.

Looking ahead, Okobi revealed that the immediate target for the Super Falcons remains securing qualification for the World Cup before focusing on defending their continental title.

“Our first objective is to qualify for the World Cup,” she stressed.

The Super Falcons continue preparing for upcoming competitions under coach Justin Madugu.
