Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian Christian village on Tuesday as their violence across the occupied West Bank continues to escalate.
Settlers targeted areas near the village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah, overnight, setting fire to agricultural fields.
No injuries were reported in the attack.
Taybeh has been the target of repeated settler attacks in recent months following the establishment of a new settlement nearby.
Last year, settlers set the village’s historic Church of Saint George alight, along with its adjoining graveyard.

That attack prompted rare condemnation from the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, an outspoken supporter of Israeli settlements.
Despite that criticism, attacks on the village have continued.

Taybeh is an ancient village believed to date back to the Canaanite period more than 3,000 years ago.
It has a predominantly Christian population of 1,340, according to the 2017 census conducted by the Palestine Central Bureau of Statistics.
The area is known for its abundant pastoral land, and many residents make their living by raising sheep.
But that abundance has drawn the attention of settlers, who have steadily encroached on the village’s territory with the backing of the Israeli military.
Settler violence
Violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians has long been a feature of the occupied West Bank, but it has intensified sharply since the war on Gaza began in 2023.
Settlers now carry out near-daily attacks on Palestinian villages and communities, including vandalism, arson, forced displacement and physical assaults, sometimes involving firearms.
On Tuesday, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory released a report documenting an unprecedented and sustained escalation in settler violence against Palestinians.

The commission said the Israeli government directly supports these attacks through financial backing, logistical assistance and military protection.
“Violence by settlers is the direct outcome of Israeli policies that support, enable and protect their actions,” said Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the commission.
The report found that Israeli settlers killed seven Palestinians and wounded 832 others in 2025, representing a 130 percent increase from the previous year.
The trend has continued in 2026, with attacks taking place on a near-daily basis.
According to the Palestinian Authority’s Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, at least 50 Palestinians have been killed by settlers since October 2023, including 15 this year alone.
The UN report concluded that Israeli authorities are “directly involved” in settler attacks that have killed and displaced Palestinians.
The government enables such attacks through financial and military support, while Israeli judicial and law enforcement authorities grant settlers impunity, the UN said.
“The relentless, daily assaults by Israeli settlers against Palestinians are intolerable – and must end. Israel must stop supporting this violence and ensure that its security forces safeguard the Palestinian civilian population,” said Muralidhar.
“The international community must exert concerted pressure on Israel to fulfil its obligations under international law and to take immediate decisive action to dismantle settlements and outposts, and end settler violence once and for all.”
