For the first time in 1,376 days, Serena Williams has won a professional tennis match.
Williams hadn’t played in an event since she was eliminated in the third round of the women’s singles draw at the 2022 US Open by Australian Ajla Tomljanovic.
But after a lengthy period of absence, she made her return in the world of doubles to partner with rising Canadian star Victoria Mboko.
Taking the court at the Queen’s Club’s Andy Murray Arena, Williams and Mboko defeated the pair of American Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Australian Erin Routliffe 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 on Tuesday.
