Inside Travis Kelce's plan to become 'the Shaq of the NFL' after wedding Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce has no intention of slowing down once he retires from the NFL, even though he’s due to marry billionaire Taylor Swift next month.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his popstar fiancée will tie the knot in New York City in July following their whirlwind romance that began in 2023. But first, the couple, both 36, will have to decide whether they wish to sign a prenuptial agreement to protect their current and future assets.

While Swift is worth an estimated $2 billion, per Forbes, Kelce’s net worth falls somewhere between $50 million and $90 million, according to various projections.

Last week, Kelce grew his already vast investment portfolio once again by buying a minority stake in his boyhood baseball team, the Cleveland Guardians.

He owns part of the Alpine Formula One team, and has stakes in an amusement park company, a mattress company, a beer company, a restaurant and his New Heights podcast he hosts with older brother Jason Kelce.

But a source has now told the Daily Mail that he has no interest in reducing his off-field activities once he retires and marries Swift.

‘Travis has no shortage of opportunities waiting for him whenever he decides to hang up the cleats, and even while he’s still playing, he’s constantly been exploring ventures that fit his brand,’ the insider said. ‘We’ve seen what he has been doing, and that will only continue.

‘Right now, his focus is on winning another Super Bowl, getting married and eventually starting a family. But long term, more ownership stakes in teams, business investments, restaurants and even alcohol brands are all great possibilities to venture into.

‘He’s already proven he can succeed beyond football with hosting game shows, a hugely successful podcast with his brother, acting projects, endorsements and media appearances.’

Off the field, Kelce is growing a business empire as he continues to wind down his NFL career.

After speculation he may retire this summer, Kelce signed a new one-year contract with the Chiefs worth $12 million for a 14th season as they attempt to bounce back from a disappointing season last year.

Kelce has also been linked to a high-profile TV role in the NFL once he stops playing professionally and has not hidden the fact he would be interested in being an analyst like Tom Brady, who is earning $375 million across ten years with Fox.

‘Like Jason, he’ll likely do more analyst work down the road, but that’s only one piece of the puzzle,’ the insider continued.

‘People around him see him becoming the NFL’s version of Shaq – someone whose name is attached to a wide range of successful businesses because he knows how to leverage his popularity. And if opportunities arise to collaborate with Taylor, he’s certainly open to that, too.

‘One thing is clear: Travis has no interest in disappearing after football. He wants to maximize the platform he’s built, continue growing as a businessman and keep expanding his reach.

‘Being with Taylor has only reinforced his drive to succeed on an even bigger stage.’

The Daily Mail recently confirmed that Swift and Kelce are set to marry in New York City on July 3, though it was previously speculated that the couple would say ‘I do’ at her lavish Rhode Island estate.

The star had said earlier this year that their guest list would be massive to avoid the ‘stressful’ nature of smaller weddings. But it has since been reported that the couple have scaled the wedding down while several A-list pals have been snubbed from the guest list.

Guests who received an invitation have also been required to RSVP with a signed NDA to help keep details of the nuptials private, per a source. The exact location of the wedding is unknown, but it is said to be an arena- or museum-like space.

When it came time for Kelce to propose, the sports player turned his backyard in Kansas City into a secret garden wonderland, asking Swift to marry him shortly after they recorded an episode of his New Heights podcast together.
