An earthquake has been recorded in southern Iran, the third major quake in just over a day.
A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck Sargaz in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province at a depth of 22km in the early hours of Tuesday, June 9.
Local media reported that the quake was also felt in the Kerman province.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, according to Mehr news agency.
The earthquake has caused no damage, local media reported the province’s crisis management chief as saying.
Two other major earthquakes were recorded just hours earlier.
The USGS measured a magnitude 6.1 quake at a depth of 26 kilometres on Cuba’s northwest coast on Monday, June 8.
The quake shook parts of Cuba, Mexico and Florida that are typically not prone to tremors, Reuters news agency reported.
Earlier in the day, a powerful 7.8‑magnitude earthquake struck about 33 kilometres deep off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.
At least 32 died, with dozens others injured.
The Philippine quake sparked tsunami warnings across several ‌countries.
