Morgan Rogers is a summer transfer target for Arsenal, football.london understands, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad for the 2026/27 season.
The Aston Villa star, who will represent England at the World Cup over the next month, can play as an attacking midfielder and also on the left wing. Andrea Berta and Arteta are admirers of the player, who has improved drastically under the leadership of Unai Emery.
Rogers contributed 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 appearances this campaign and helped Villa win the Europa League. A deal will be expensive, though, given Aston Villa are in no rush to sell their prized asset.

This is a really easy one; it’s a yes. Morgan Rogers adds more of the already existing qualities in the team with his speed, power and work rate. But he adds something Mikel Arteta wants more of, and that is the capacity to win games on his own with stunning moments of quality.
Arsenal were on the end of some stunning goals that either came close to costing them points or were successful. The home defeat to Manchester United being one – with them lucky to escape Bournemouth after another current target, Junior Kroupi’s long shot, found the net.
At £80million or in excess of, he would become their second-ever most expensive signing, second only to Declan Rice. But for a player in his age bracket, experience and homegrown status with his skill set, he is completely worth the investment.

The first thing I’d like to point out is Morgan Rogers is an extremely talented player. His ability to run with the ball at pace and create something out of nothing is not only world class, but it’s very good to watch.
Arsenal do already have the likes of Eberechi Eze and Martin Odegaard, though, so a deal may only work if Arsenal see Rogers playing off the left, potentially as a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli. He would also likely cost at least £100million.
For me, Rogers would be an unbelievable signing. His age means his best years are ahead of him and you would think he would only improve even further when playing for the Premier League champions.

Kieran Horn
I can absolutely see why Arsenal are interested in Morgan Rogers, but I’m not sure he is the right profile. There is no doubt that Mikel Arteta will absolutely love his work ethic off the ball and his quality in possession is undeniable.
Rogers’ ability to carry the ball up the pitch is arguably his biggest trait however that is what potentially makes him the wrong attacking addition.
It is quite clear that the Gunners need a new left-sided attacker and while Rogers can and has played in that position at Aston Villa, Unai Emery uses his wide players very differently to Arteta.
With Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze already at the club, most of his minutes would come off the left but in my opinion Arsenal would be better off signing a more natural winger than can hold the touchline and potentially run in behind.
It would not be a bad signing at all but I do think that Arsenal can find a better use of such significant funds.
