Arsenal are in talks to beat as many as eight clubs to the signing of one of England’s brightest wonderkids in a potential record-breaking transfer.
The Gunners are desperate to add to their squad after sealing a first Premier League title in more than 20 years, having also suffered a devastating loss on penalties in the Champions League final.
Work has already begun on improving Mikel Arteta’s side, with world class attackers such as Julian Alvarez, Eli Kroupi and Morgan Rogers being considered, although Arsenal are also looking to the future by eyeing a number of young stars.
One teenager who could be heading to the Emirates Stadium is Leicester wonderkid Jeremy Monga, with transfer reporter Ben Jacobs claiming that talks have begun to sign the 16-year-old.
The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have previously been linked with Monga and Jacobs revealed Leicester have received eight formal enquiries from top clubs in England and Europe.
However, Arsenal are now pursuing Monga in a deal which could cost more than €15 million, with the player’s age meaning the transfer could go to tribunal to determine the fee.
Arsenal could be held to ransom in Monga transfer
Despite his tender age, Monga was a regular in Leicester’s side that got relegated from the Championship last season, having made his debut in 2025 to become the second-youngest player in Premier League history behind Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.
Monga made 30 appearances in all competitions for Leicester last season, scoring once, while the winger has also been a regular for the England under-19s despite only being 16.
Crucially for Leicester, they signed Monga to a contract last summer that put the youngster on an academy scholarship which would turn into a full-time contract when he turns 17 on 10 July.
Players not on professional terms would usually see a tribunal determine a fee if they were to move clubs but Leicester could set their own price for Monga after his birthday next month.
Consequently, the Foxes are set to demand around €15m for Monga, which would be a record sale for a third-division club in England, although it remains to be seen how a deal progresses.
