The Tottenham Hotspur teenager is set to begin a new chapter of his playing career after making the move across Europe
Tottenham youngster Leon Myrtaj has posted a heartfelt message on social media after leaving for Hungarian club Debreceni VSC following 11 years in north London.
The 18-year-old winger joined Spurs when he was just seven-years-old but with his contract coming to a close the summer Myrtaj has sealed a move to DVSC, who play in the top tier of Hungarian football, with a three-year contract. The former Tottenham attacker’s mother is Hungarian and his father is of Albanian descent.
Myrtaj has already played for the Albanian national teams at youth level, competing at the European U17 Championships last year, but due to that family background through his mother he is also eligible to represent Hungary.
The speedy, versatile attacker will be looking to make his mark in Europe after playing for Tottenham at various levels, all the way up to Wayne Burnett’s under-21s development side. He registered three assists in 15 games in the U18 Premier League this season and Debreceni also claimed in their unveiling of the youngster that he has trained on occasions with the Spurs first team.

DVSC said on their club website: “The young, versatile footballer is known for his speed, attacking creativity and versatility. Experts consider him a hard-working and ambitious player, and he can now prove himself in Loki.”
Myrtaj will now begin the new chapter of his career in his mother’s homeland and posted photos on Instagram from across more than a decade of service to the north London outfit along with the goodbye message: “Thank you to everyone at Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’m grateful for the time I’ve spent at this club and for the support I’ve received throughout my journey. The experiences and memories I’ve made here will stay with me forever. Wishing everyone at the club all the very best for the future.”
