Droves of people fled Beirut’s southern suburbs on Monday after threats made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bomb the Lebanese capital.
Netanyahu said that orders from him and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the army to “strike terrorist targets” in the area.
The threats were made despite a ceasefire deal that came into effect in mid-April. Hundreds of civilians have been killed and wounded since, with destruction across the country, particularly in southern Lebanon.
