Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson plans to tell incoming new manager Andoni Iraola that he wants to leave the club this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Brazil international has just one year remaining on his current contract at Anfield and it’s understood that he has already reached a full agreement on personal terms with Serie A giants Juventus as he looks to reunite with his former AS Roma boss Luciano Spalletti.
Alisson, who is now 33 years old, has been Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper since his arrival back in 2018, but he has become increasingly injury-prone over the past few seasons and he only made 26 Premier League appearances last term due to two separate hamstring problems.
Juventus are keen to bring him to Turin following Michele Di Gregorio’s woes across the 2025-26 campaign, and it’s reported that Alisson is eager to follow Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate to the Liverpool exit door.
In fact, Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Alisson will contact Iraola to inform him of his desire to leave Liverpool once the 43-year-old is formally appointed as Arne Slot’s permanent successor.
Iraola has left Bournemouth following a hugely successful three-year stint with the Cherries and he is expected to be appointed as the new Liverpool manager shortly, following the sacking of Slot last week.
The Spaniard will then reportedly be forced to block Alisson’s proposed move to Juventus or grant the Brazilian his wish to depart.
Andoni Iraola to be appointed as Liverpool’s new manager?
Slot was widely expected to remain as Liverpool’s manager for next season, despite a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, with the club opting against pursuing a deal for club legend Xabi Alonso, who was subsequently appointed by Chelsea.
However, the club performed a u-turn after a post-season review and Slot was officially relieved of his duties on 30 May.
Iraola quickly emerged as the frontrunner for the job and he is now locked in advanced talks with the Liverpool hierarchy, with an agreement expected to be announced shortly as the Reds look to bounce back from a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
