UCL: Heartbreak For Arsenal Again As PSG Defend Title After Penalty Shootout Win

Arsenal’s wait for a first ever UEFA Champions League trophy continues after they lost to holders Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s final in Budapest, Hungary.

After 90 minutes and regulation time finished 1-1, PSG went on to win 4-3 on penalties and retain the title they won last season after a dominant 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan.

The reigning Premier League champions also lost in their first Champions League appearance in 2006, when they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona.

Arsenal had the perfect start when Kai Havertz continued his record of scoring in Champions League finals when he produced a brilliant finish after just four minutes.

The Gunners stood firm but PSG drew level thanks to an Ousmane Dembele penalty in the 65th minute.

However, it was Gabriel’s missed penalty that meant the French heavyweights are only the second club to defend their crown in the Champions League era.
