There is not a season that goes by without a whole host of wonderkids leaving an indelible mark across Europe’s top five leagues.
And the 2025-26 campaign was no different as a number of teenage sensations announced themselves for the first time, while there were established young stars who also cemented their statuses as future greats.
With that in mind, FootballTransfers has decided to highlight the players aged 21 and under who sparkled across the continent this season, with each talent listed in no particular order.
Eli Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth)
Eli Junior Kroupi has emerged as one of the best young forwards in the world following a remarkable breakthrough season with Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old helped the Cherries qualify for next season’s Europa League by finding the net on 13 occasions, which is a record for the most Premier League goals scored by a teenager in their debut campaign.
Rayan (Bournemouth)
Signed as a replacement for Antoine Semenyo in January, Rayan also had a huge hand in Bournemouth clinching European football for the first time in their history.
Possessing frightening power for someone so young, the 19-year-old winger scored five goals and recorded two assists in just 15 Premier League appearances – a staggering return from the Brazil international.
Robin Risser (RC Lens)
One of the bargains of the season, goalkeeper Robin Risser joined French football’s surprise package RC Lens for just €3million (£2.6m) last summer.
And the 21-year-old was subsequently named in the UNFP Team of the Season after helping Pierre Sage’s side win their maiden French Cup and finish second in Ligue 1.
Warren Zaire-Emery (PSG)
Warren Zaire-Emery was an instrumental force in a PSG side which retained their Ligue 1 and Champions League crowns this season.
A wise head who plays beyond his years, the 20-year-old midfielder was a near ever-present for the Parisians, making 54 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.
Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)
Two-footed and with pace to burn on either flank, the electric Yan Diomande enjoyed a stellar season with German outfit RB Leipzig.
After scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists under Ole Werner’s stewardship, the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international was rewarded for his efforts by being named as the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Season.
Said El Mala (FC Koln)
In a stunning debut season in the Bundesliga, Said El Mala was the main reason why promoted FC Koln managed to retain their top-flight status.
The 19-year-old winger scored 13 goals and collected four assists in 2025-26, with many neutrals left baffled by his omission from Germany’s World Cup squad.
Luka Vuskovic (Hamburg)
Another promoted side who managed to beat the drop in the Bundesliga was Hamburg, with Luka Vuskovic playing a significant role.
Arriving at Volksparkstadion on a season-loan from Tottenham Hotspur, the 19-year-old defender scored a whopping six goals for Merlin Polzin’s side.
Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)
Despite suffering from a persistent pubalgia condition, Lamine Yamal was simply incredible as Barcelona won a second successive La Liga title.
Carrying an attack which largely lacked Raphinha due to injury, the 18-year-old magician conjured up an astonishing 24 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for Hansi Flick’s men.
Carlos Espi (Levante)
Levante had academy graduate Carlos Espi to thank as they pulled off a remarkable escape from relegation by boasting a superior head-to-head record against 18th-placed Mallorca in La Liga.
The 20-year-old bagged nine league goals in 21 outings for Luis Castro’s side, earmarking himself as one of the most promising young forwards around.
Arda Guler (Real Madrid)
While Real Madrid posted a second successive season without winning a trophy, one young man who can hold his head up high is Arda Guler.
The 21-year-old Turkey international scored six goals and set up his team-mates on 14 occasions in all competitions – a fantastic set of numbers considering he was not a guaranteed starter for Los Blancos.
