Nigerian sprinter Tima Godbless safely booked her place in the next round of the women’s 100m at the NCAA East First Round, qualifying on time after clocking 11.23 seconds (q) in Heat 3.

Sports247 reports that the talented Nigerian finished fifth in her heat, but her time proved enough to secure progression as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers.
Godbless exploded brilliantly out of the blocks and showed impressive acceleration in the early stages of the race. However, she struggled to maintain the same intensity through the closing metres, allowing others to edge ahead near the finish line.
Despite that, the performance was still sufficient to keep her championship hopes alive, and the Nigerian star will now look to sharpen up ahead of the next round.
The heat was won by American sprinter Jassani Carter, who crossed the line in a season’s best 11.08 seconds.
For Godbless, qualification remains the most important takeaway. The NCAA regional rounds are often about advancing rather than chasing fast times, and the Nigerian youngster successfully achieved that objective.
