With Arsenal enjoying every second of their Premier League title celebrations, Mikel Arteta made a huge promise to his players and the fan base
Deep into the evening at an exclusive Mayfair restaurant, surrounded by extravagantly priced food and drink, Mikel Arteta delivered a promise to the Arsenal faithful – “We’re going to be champions of Europe.”
The Gunners may have claimed the Premier League title, yet their season remains far from finished. One fixture stands between them and the conclusion of their campaign, and it happens to be the most momentous occasion in the club’s history.
On Saturday, the north Londoners head to Budapest to face the reigning European champions, Paris Saint-Germain, in the Champions League final. While Arteta and his players savoured their moment of triumph, their sights are firmly set on further celebrations in the capital.
A guest at the lavish Bacchanalia Mediterranean restaurant in Central London captured footage of Arteta, microphone in hand, delivering his latest rousing address. He declared: “On Saturday, we’re going to be champions of Europe!”
His bold proclamation served as a timely reminder to his jubilant squad that one final, enormous piece of silverware remains within reach. It would have provided considerable food for thought as the players dined magnificently and sampled the sumptuous beverages on offer.
It’s understood the majority of drinks available cost customers upwards of £100, with certain bottles of wine fetching as much as £56,000. Whether Arteta and his players indulged in the more extravagant offerings, however, remains unclear.
Should they overcome PSG on Saturday, it would come as little shock if Arteta and his players head back to Mayfair for another extravagant celebration. Declan Rice, who was spotted rapping and dancing at the gathering, has already emphasised Arsenal are entirely concentrated on confronting Luis Enrique’s outfit.
The England international, when questioned about this weekend’s colossal encounter, said: “I think that’s the message from the manager already.
“We just need to enjoy today, but tomorrow it’s full focus on PSG. We’ve got a massive opportunity there. We want that, you know, we want the double, we want to push for that.”
Captain Martin Odegaard, who raised the trophy at Selhurst Park following the Gunners’ 2-1 away triumph over Crystal Palace, also added: “We had a great celebration on Tuesday.
“The vibes are unreal, everyone is so happy. But we have another big final, you know, in just a week. So we’ll wait to party for after that.
“We’re off tomorrow, and then Tuesday training, so we’ll go easy tonight I think. We’ve got to enjoy it and make sure we’re ready and go for it, and hopefully we can do it.”
