Khvicha Kvaratskhelia reveals PSG game-plan as Arsenal fired Champions League final warning

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia believes Paris Saint-Germain are well-equipped to defeat Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final this weekend.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has revealed how Luis Enrique plans to overcome Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final. On Saturday evening, the Gunners will lock horns with Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, as they battle it out for the most prestigious trophy in Europe.

Arsenal stumbled at the last hurdle back in 2006, so they’ll be determined to avenge the heartbreaking defeat to Barcelona and win the competition for the first time in their history. Meanwhile, the French giants are hoping to become just the second team to defend the title in the Champions League era.

Several clubs had previously won the European Cup in consecutive seasons, but Real Madrid became the first club to do so in 2017 following the relaunch of the competition in 1992. Ahead of the showpiece event this weekend, Enrique appears to have gone back to basics.

In an interview with club media ahead of the Champions League final, Kvaratskhelia attributed his side’s success to their unity. The 25-year-old winger, who has scored six goals in his last six knockout stage ties, claimed PSG can ‘beat anyone’ if they stick to Enrique’s gameplan.

“I think that it’s one of the team’s biggest strengths. We’re happy to play together and are very close-knit, and we know that if we fight for each other and play our own brand of football, we can beat anyone.”

Kvaratskhelia continued: “I think that every player can improve something, and that includes me. I’m always trying to progress, to score more goals and to get more assists, but for me, football isn’t just about goals and assists; the way in which you help your team is more important.

“Sometimes, you can’t score or get an assist, but you can give everything on the pitch to help your team to win. That’s the most important thing for me. When I finish a game, I want to know that I gave 100 per cent to my team and that I helped it to win.”

On putting the team first, the Georgia international said: “When I was starting out, I think I was more of an individual player than a team player, but I soon realised that you’re nothing without your team.

“Not many players can win games on their own. I realised that when you have a good team where every player gives everything, the results follow.”

Although Kvaratskhelia acknowledged the difficulty of the task at hand, he backed himself, his teammates, and Enrique to get the job done against Arsenal this weekend. The PSG star added: “I think that it’s really difficult, as we’ve already seen.

“We’ve had a lot of games where we had to fight until the end, and we’ve beaten a number of very strong teams. Of course, it’s difficult, but as I said, we’ve got a lot of quality.

“We have players who can do it all, so I think that we just need to believe in ourselves and to give everything in order to win this trophy.”
