West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has admitted that he has no intention of leaving the club this summer, despite their relegation down to the Championship.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secured a 3-0 home win against Leeds United on Sunday to give themselves a fighting chance of remaining in the Premier League, but it wasn’t enough to survive the drop as relegation rivals Tottenham Hotspur edged to a 1-0 victory over David Moyes’ Everton.
West Ham will therefore be playing in the second-tier of English football for the first time since 2012 next season, and rumours have suggested that a number of their key players are likely to depart before the end of Transfer Deadline Day on 30 August.
Star midfielder Mateus Fernandes is almost guaranteed to leave amid significant interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, while Crysencio Summerville and El Hadji Malick Diouf have also been heavily linked with a possible exit.
Bowen has been tipped to depart too, with reports indicating that Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd are all eager to take advantage of West Ham’s relegation by finalising a deal for the England forward.
However, the 29-year-old wants to guide the Hammers straight back to the Premier League instead of leaving for pastures new during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Jarrod Bowen confirms summer transfer plan
Speaking to Sky Sports after West Ham’s relegation was confirmed on Sunday, Bowen said: “Ultimately, this season we haven’t been good enough and we’ve paid the price.
“I’m under contract here. I’ve been here for six-and-a-half years. I’ve had some really high moments and this is a low moment that will outweigh everything.
“There’s going to be rumours, there’s going to be talk. Ultimately, what I see is getting this club back in the Premier League because that is where it deserves to be.
“This is a really, really low moment, but we have to bounce back because there’s no other way. This is a really difficult moment. You never know what the future holds. For me, I want to get this club back in the Premier League. Right now our vision is to do that.”
Bowen scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in 38 Premier League games during the 2025-26 season and, if he stays at West Ham, he will undoubtedly be one of the best players in the Championship next term as he looks to guide the club to an immediate promotion back to the English top flight.
