Rangers have reportedly reached a full agreement to sign Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland this summer and they are keen to announce the deal within the next week before he links up with the Scotland squad for the World Cup.
The 30-year-old, who has been at Hearts since 2022, scored 20 goals and provided six assists in 34 games during the 2025-26 campaign as Derek McInnes’ side cruelly missed out on the Scottish Premiership title to Celtic.
Shankland signed a new deal at Hearts last summer, keeping him contracted to the club until 2028, with the Scotland striker opting to reject the chance to move abroad in favour of remaining at Tynecastle Park. Rangers were also interested in securing his signature, but they ultimately decided against a deal and instead finalised the signing of Everton forward Youssef Chermiti for a transfer fee of €8.6 million.
However, Danny Rohl’s side are keen to bolster their ranks following a third-place finish this season, and they quickly earmarked Shankland as one of their top targets for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Hearts Standard report that Rangers want to complete a deal for Shankland before he joins Scotland’s World Cup squad this week and Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that an agreement has been reached.
The transfer expert posted on X: “Rangers have agreed deal to sign Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, here we go! Paperwork now signed and Shankland set to be announced as new Rangers player.”
The 30-year-old, who has 18 senior international caps, has hit the 20-goal mark in three of his four seasons at Hearts, and he is one of several stars set to depart the club this summer, alongside Cammy Devlin and Craig Halkett.

Rangers want Lawrence Shankland as Joe Gelhardt alternative
Rangers had previously identified Joe Gelhardt as a top target for this summer, but a move for the Leeds United forward may be difficult to finalise following Hull City’s promotion to the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship Play-Off Final.
The 24-year-old has spent the past 18 months on loan with the Tigers and a permanent move could be on the cards during the upcoming window.
As a result, Rangers have turned the attention to Shankland and they have now agreed a deal for the Scotland star, who has an Estimated Transfer Value of €2m.
Shankland is a proven goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership and with Rangers harbouring aspirations of winning the title next season, he is set to be a pivotal player for Rohl’s side next term.
