A Premier League star admitted it was clear who was the better team between Manchester City and Arsenal after facing them
Harry Maguire has stated that Arsenal’s dominance over Manchester City this season was clear.
The Gunners secured the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years following Pep Guardiola’s side’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday night. The Manchester United defender played in all four matches against the Gunners and the Citizens this season.
The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to the newly-crowned champions on the opening day of the season but bounced back with a 3-2 victory at the Emirates Stadium in January.
Maguire’s team also endured a 3-0 loss to their city rivals in September before securing revenge with a 2-0 win at home in Michael Carrick’s first match as interim boss. The England international started in both victories and appeared as a substitute in the defeats, and has now shared his opinion on which team performed better.
Speaking on The Overlap, the 33-year-old told Ian Wright: “I’ve played both. Honestly, I always thought Arsenal were the better team when we played them. Just because, honestly, they give you nothing.

“They give you… they were so solid. We beat them at the Emirates, but we didn’t create much and we scored two worldies. We played well that day, but we didn’t actually create too much inside the box. Arsenal defend the box so well.”
Former United captain Harry Maguire backed the north London outfit to edge out City in the title race, telling Wright: “I always thought you’d have enough. I still think you’ll have enough.”
Maguire’s forecast proved spot on, as the former Arsenal striker revelled in his club’s triumph on Tuesday evening, with supporters celebrating long into the night.
Arsenal’s players and coaching staff marked the occasion together at their training ground, with footage of the jubilant scenes spreading rapidly across social media. Moments after the Gunners were officially confirmed as champions, the club released a video featuring Mikel Arteta’s immediate reaction.
He said: “We made history again, together. I cannot be happier, prouder for everybody that is involved in this football club. Let’s enjoy the moment.” Arsenal will lift the trophy following their final league fixture against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The celebrations could reach even greater heights, with the Gunners eyeing a memorable double when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final later this month. Victory over the holders at the Puskas Arena would cement their place as the seventh English club to be crowned European champions.
