Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson intends to do what he can to push through a move to Serie A club Juventus, according to the latest information from Italy.
Alisson, 33, has a year left on his deal at Anfield but wants a return to Italy’s top-flight, where he previously made his name with Roma.
He has already agreed a contract with Juventus and is ready to fight for the chance to join the Turin club, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Alisson plans for Juventus move
Alisson’s entourage are said to have “confirmed” the player’s intention to complete a transfer to Juventus, even if the negotiations between the clubs are “complicated”.
It had been feared by those in Italy that Juve’s failure to qualify for the Champions League could quell the goalkeeper’s desire to complete a deal, even after reports that he had agreed a two-year deal worth approximately €7.5 million per season.
Alisson is particularly motivated by the prospect of hooking up with his former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti, and playing in the Europa League is not something that will make him “back down”.
Liverpool reluctant to sell Alisson
Liverpool’s stance, however, could block Alisson’s dream move. The Reds already know they are losing Mohamed Salah on a free transfer in the summer, and they do not wish to lose another veteran leader from Arne Slot’s ranks, according to the Italian media.
It will take a substantial move to drive this season forwards. There is no agreement on a transfer fee, though it has been suggested that a figure around €15m would help to get the deal done.
Indeed, Juventus are even considering an apparent reassessment of the player’s contract, with the possibility of a three-year deal worth €7m per season now a possibility.
The Italian source states: “The chances of a deal aren’t that remote. In fact, compared to a couple of weeks ago, they seem to be increasing.”
Nevertheless, Juventus are lining up David de Gea as an alternative should talks for Alisson break down.
Is Mamardashvili ready to replace Alisson?
Liverpool signed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in 2024 for €30m to be the heir for Alisson, yet there are still some questions over whether the 25-year-old Georgia international is ready to make the step up.
According to SciSports, the goalkeeping area is one of Liverpool’s weaknesses currently, with none of their senior options ranking among the club’s top players. According to the analysis of the data analytics firm, Alisson is their top option but comes in only 15th in Arne Slot’s squad.
Selling Alisson, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €14.9m, to Juventus could therefore mean that Liverpool have to go into the market for a new keeper – but it may be that they would have had to do that anyway given SciSports’ brutal analysis.
