Iraq’s port authority said early on Friday that it deployed maritime and rescue teams after it received alerts about the loss of contact with two Bolivia-flagged vessels in the Gulf.
The General Company for Ports stressed that the two ships that went missing – identified as vessels Bridge 1 and Bridge 2 – had not entered Iraqi waters, the Iraqi News Agency reported.
It added that it did not receive any distress calls or information regarding their current whereabouts from either vessels.
Monitoring efforts are ongoing through satellite tracking systems and in coordination with search-and-rescue authorities across the region.
