Arne Slot out? The market shifts as Andoni Iraola now a 4/6 favourite to be the next permanent Liverpool manager

Sky Bet’s markets have shifted over the past day or so, with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola now the odds-on 4/6 favourite to become Liverpool’s next permanent manager.

As Iraola’s odds shorten dramatically, speculation is mounting over whether current Liverpool boss Arne Slot could be on borrowed time at Anfield.

Slot couldn’t have had a better start to his Liverpool tenure, winning the 2024–25 Premier League title in his first season.

However, his second campaign has fallen far short of expectations, with the Reds currently fifth in the table and a staggering 23 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

The market shifts as Andoni Iraola now a 4/6 favourite to be the next permanent Liverpool boss

This season has been particularly disappointing given Liverpool’s summer spending spree, which saw them sign Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Alexander Isak for a combined fee exceeding £320 million.

So far, those high-profile acquisitions have largely failed to deliver, with Ekitike standing out as the only player to perform consistently this season.

With that in mind, could Iraola be the key to restoring Liverpool as title contenders next season?

Iraola has built an impressive record at Bournemouth, guiding the club to 12th- and ninth-place finishes in his first two seasons.

However, it’s this campaign that has been a standout, with the Cherries currently sixth in the Premier League and securing European qualification for the first time in the club’s history.

Their second half of the season has been particularly remarkable, highlighted by a 1-1 draw with Manchester City earlier this week that extended Bournemouth’s unbeaten league run to 17 games.

As Iraola continues to impress, speculation over Liverpool’s next boss intensifies, making it all the more intriguing – and you can see the full list of Sky Bet contenders below.
