Iran has established expanded boundaries for the Strait of Hormuz management supervision zone.
“The line connecting Kuh Mobarak in Iran and the south of Fujairah in the UAE in the east of the strait to the line connecting the end of Qeshm Island in Iran and Umm al-Qaiwain in the UAE in the west of the strait,” the newly established Persian Gulf Strait Authority said in a statement.
The authority stated that passage through the designated area would require coordination and approval from Iranian officials.
The declaration follows President Donald Trump’s decision to postpone a “scheduled attack” against Iran following appeals from regional leaders across the Middle East. The about-turn came alongside reports suggesting “serious negotiations are now taking place,” according to the president.
“A Deal will be made, which will be very acceptable to the United States of America, as well as all Countries in the Middle East, and beyond,” he wrote in a Truth Social post.
Whether diplomatic talks have achieved a significant breakthrough remains uncertain; however, Trump acknowledged that Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman influenced his decision to halt the strike.
“I have instructed Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, The Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Daniel Caine, and The United States Military, that we will NOT be doing the scheduled attack of Iran tomorrow,” Trump tweeted.
Nevertheless, Trump confirmed that he has “instructed them to be prepared large-scale with a full, large-scale assault of Iran, on a moment’s notice, in the event that an acceptable Deal is not reached.”
Trump indicated he was prepared to wait several days for the “right answer” from Iran as negotiations remain “on the borderline.
“It’s right on the borderline; if we don’t get the right answers, it goes very quickly,” he told reporters after stepping off Air Force One on Wednesday. “We’re all ready to go.”
The president stated that it “could be a few days, but it could go very quickly.” Trump added that the U.S. is dealing with Iran with “people that are, I think, far more reasonable than the people that are really no longer with us… so hopefully those people will make a deal that’s going to be great for everyone.”
