Manchester United and Liverpool have switched their attention to a new Bundesliga wonderkid after seeing Yan Diomande rule out a move this summer.

Diomande was expected to be a major target for many of Europe’s elite sides this summer after a breakout debut season, however the 19-year-old confirmed this week that he plans to stay with RB Leipzig for another season.

The decision comes as a major blow to the likes of United and Liverpool, who were hoping to make the winger a marquee signing this summer, and both clubs are now exploring deals for a new target.

But they will not have to travel far for an alternative, with Sky Sport Germany reporter Patrik Berger claiming that the Premier League giants are among the sides to turn to Bazoumana Toure after his own impressive season for Hoffenheim.

Toure has five goals and nine assists this season but he is ‘expected’ to leave Hoffenheim after they missed out on Champions League qualification, with a pricetag of €40-50 million being placed on the 20-year-old.

Multiple clubs are said to have submitted enquiries over Toure, with Aston Villa and Newcastle described as ‘very interested’, while Brighton, United and Liverpool are all claimed to be monitoring the situation.

Toure likely to feature in Man Utd and Liverpool thoughts after Diomande snub

Toure joined Hoffenheim from Swedish side Hammarby last year for €10m and he has become a key player for the Bundesliga outfit, having also starred for the Ivory Coast at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.

A left-footed winger, Toure has often been used all down the left flank as a wing back and a forward and he has even been played up front and on the right side.

Diomande was believed to be the top attacking target for both United and Liverpool but Toure could be considered a more serious option now, while West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen has also been linked with a move.

When asked whether he was planning to stay in Leipzig beyond the summer, Diomande responded with a simple ‘yes’, with Leipzig planning to hand the youngster a new contract containing a release clause.

Villa and Newcastle are said to have the strongest interest in Toure and they could be the clubs that push the hardest for the Ivorian as the transfer develops over the coming months.
