The 2026 World Cup kicks off in less than one month’s time, with co-hosts Mexico in action against South Africa in the first match on 11 June in a repeat of the opening fixture of the 2010 edition.

The 48 nations involved at the tournament are required to submit a squad of between 23 and 26 players, including three goalkeepers, to FIFA by 1 June, with the deadline for announcing squads to the public on 2 June.

However, a host of countries have already confirmed their 26-man squads, with many others set to follow suit over the coming days.

Only players named in the final squad will be allowed to feature at the World Cup, although they can be replaced by somebody from the provisional squad list of between 35 and 55 players no later than 24 hours before their nation’s first match of the tournament in case of injury or illness.
