Arsenal are Premier League champions – and the party is about to get started in the red half of north London.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have ended a 22-year wait for top-flight silverware, with his side now unable to be caught at the summit of the Premier League.
That’s because Man City’s failure to beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night means that Pep Guardiola’s side are now four points behind the Gunners with just one game left to go.
Arsenal move to within touching distance of the title after Kai Havertz’s first-half header secured a 1-0 victory against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Arsenal looked to have blown their bid to claim a first championship since Arsene Wenger’s ‘Invincibles’ triumphed in 2004 after they lost to rivals Manchester City on April 19.
But they have bounced back strong from the setback at the Etihad to win their first since 2004 with a game of the Premier League season still to go.
However, any celebrations are on ice and for very good reason, with a Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain still to come.
That game is taking place on Saturday, May 30, at 5pm, meaning any parade or celebration will not take place until after the clash with Luis Enrique’s side.
