Israel intercepts more Gaza-bound aid boats with 'fully equipped naval fleet'

Israeli forces intercepted dozens of boats on Monday that were attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in war-torn Gaza, according to flotilla organisers.

Activists said Israel deployed a “fully equipped naval fleet”, while armed troops using speed boats intercepted and boarded vessels in international waters off Cyprus before detaining hundreds of participants.

The latest operation comes two weeks after Israeli forces intercepted 22 flotilla vessels off the coast of Greece and detained 181 volunteers involved in the humanitarian mission.
