Edo Beads of Benin City coach, Umar Victor has predicted that his side will put up a better performance and get a positive result when they play Kwara Flacons of Ilorin in their second match of the Nigerian Premier Basketball League (NPBL).
Sports247 reports that Coach Victor is staying optimistic despite his side’s 74-58 loss to Coal City Blazers of Enugu in their opening game of the season, which happened to be their first in the NPBL’s history.

Although they slumped at home, Victor enthused that they would do better in their next game at the same venue, with a belief that an improved performance from his boys will give them victory at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
He blamed inexperience for their opening day defeat but further pointed out that it was a useful experience that formed part of the ongoing learning process for his very young squad of players, who are competing in the league for the first time.
Victor theorised, “It was the same game strategy we had, but today wasn’t a very good day for us. Each time you miss a shot, you run into transition defence. We had missed shots and turnovers, and they punished us on the break.
“It’s part of the game. It’s a league. Some days you have your off day, and sometimes when it’s your off day, it happens that way. It’s our first time in the league, and these young lads are pushing and pulling themselves too.
“So, I think we’ll get better as we go. We try to assess what we’ve done, evaluate it, and know where we didn’t do well. We will check what we need to improve on. We’re going to work on that and definitely get better. The better game will come.”
