Declan Rice has made some telling comments on Arsenal teammates Bukayo Saka and Max Dowman
Arsenal star Declan Rice has hilariously revealed why he would not want Max Dowman to look after his house and why Bukayo Saka would be trusted with such a responsibility.
The Gunners trio have all played varying roles in the pursuit of Premier League and Champions League glory this season, with Rice making a particularly significant impact. He was awarded player of the match for Arsenal’s win over Burnley on Monday evening, which put them in touching distance of the title.
Saka grabbed the assist in that 1-0 victory while Dowman was an unused substitute for the third consecutive game. Having come through the academy and made a significant impact as a right winger, the 16-year-old is on a very similar trajectory to Saka. Despite that, Rice has placed them on opposite ends of the trust spectrum.
“I’d trust Saka to look after my house,” Cadbury Ambassador Rice exclusively revealed to football.london. “And who I wouldn’t… Max [Dowman]. He’d be in all the cupboards and things like that; I know what he’s like!”
Considering Dowman is only 16, Rice’s verdict is perhaps no surprise, and it is unlikely the teenager takes any offence, given his relationship with the Arsenal midfielder and some of his previous comments.

“He’s obviously incredible. It’s an eye-opener because he’s only 16, and you see how good he is, and he hasn’t got any fear at all,” Rice told Stadium Astro.
“He just goes into games, not even thinking about it. He just goes out and plays football, and to have that already at 16 is a special trait.”
Rice also appears to have a close bond with Saka, as evidenced by the trust he places in the 24-year-old to look after his house. He has also made it clear why he would want to hang out with Saka, and also let him pick restaurants for the squad to go to.
While promoting Cadbury’s Win For Your Squad competition, Rice stated: “He’s always asking and talking about movies.”
Speaking on his taste in food, the Arsenal star added: “He [Saka] picked a good one for his birthday a few years ago. It was called Stork in London. It’s Jamaican …really nice.”
Arsenal have just two games remaining this season and they are likely to define Mikel Arteta’s reign as manager. The first of those is against Crystal Palace, where they could win the club’s first title in over two decades.
If Manchester City fail to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday evening, the Gunners would actually head into that clash at Selhurst Park as Champions.
Six days on from that match, Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, potentially with the opportunity to seal a famous double.
