Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira has admitted that “everything can happen” amid significant transfer interest in Elliot Anderson ahead of this summer.
The England international is regarded as the dream midfield signing by both Manchester City and Man Utd, and he starred in his transfer audition at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking after Forest’s 3-2 loss to the Red Devils, Pereira said: “He [Anderson] has the talent to be one of the top of the top, every time he can score more goals, especially he can be a little bit more, take a bit more the risk in the last third, he has a very good shot.
“It depends on the system. If we give him total freedom to build the play I think he can do everything but we are playing with two midfielders, if he loses every time the position, we have one midfielder.
“It is a system that doesn’t give him total freedom to create. He needs to understand when the other one loses the position, he cannot but he has a lot of talent and is young and will fly with big wings.”
When asked directly if Anderson will still be a Forest player next season, Pereira said: “This is an answer that I don’t have. The market is the market, everything can happen. What I can say to you is the club wants to keep him playing for us for sure.
“The club wants to keep the players. This is a very good group with quality, with character and we are in a very good place for the next season.”
Tom Heaton contract
Manchester United are set to officially announce a new one-year contract for Tom Heaton, despite the fact he hasn’t played for the club since 2023.
The former England international, who turned 40 years old last month, has been Man Utd’s third-choice goalkeeper since he returned to Old Trafford in 2021 and he is currently behind Senne Lammens and Altay Bayindir in the pecking order.
Heaton, who initially joined Man Utd’s academy back in 2002, has just over one month remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, but he will sign a one-year extension to keep him at the club until at least 2027, as confirmed by multiple sources, including The Sun and Manchester Evening News.
The ex-Burnley shot-stopper has been named on the substitutes bench for four Premier League matches this season and it’s understood that he has helped Lammens adapt to English football since his arrival from Royal Antwerp last year.
Gary Neville wants Man Utd to finalise Anderson deal
Gary Neville has urged his former club to sign the aforementioned Anderson as a replacement for the departing Casemiro this summer.
The Brazil international has already confirmed that he will leave the club this summer, and Neville predicts that it will cost somewhere in the region of €115 million to sign a like-for-like replacement.
“Manchester United need to look at players that are either very young and have a hunger to grow or Premier League-ready players and Elliot Anderson is that,” Neville explained on the Gary Neville Podcast following the Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Forest.
“What I like about Anderson is the fact that he looks forward and he contributes. The two crosses for the goals were exceptional.
“I see too many crabs playing central midfield. You can’t have too many people who play five-yard passes back and sideways. You need to put players in there who are going to look forward and punch passes through the lines and have their head up.
“But if you believe what you hear, Manchester City also want him, so if it’s a straight fight between the two Manchester clubs, it’ll be interesting to see who he chooses.”
Karim Adeyemi battle
Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, as per TEAMtalk.
The Germany forward has been linked with a Premier League move for several months and Man Utd reportedly view him as a “high-priority target” as they prepare for their return to the Champions League.
Landing a new left winger is believed to be on Man Utd’s agenda for the summer, although signing a central midfield remains their primary goal before the start of next season.
Sandro Tonali ‘for sale’
Newcastle United are reportedly ready to sell Arsenal target Sandro Tonali during the upcoming summer transfer window as they look to raise funds before the start of next season.
The Italy international has been one of the Magpies’ standout performers this season and the club have previously been reluctant to sanction a sale in order to ensure Eddie Howe still has a talented squad at his disposal next campaign.
However, Italian publication Corriere della Sera claim that a u-turn has been made, with Newcastle now placing Tonali ‘up for sale’ amid significant interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United.
As per the report, it’s Man Utd who are currently leading the race to sign the midfielder this summer, with the Italian highly likely to leave Newcastle if a suitable bid is lodged during the upcoming transfer window.
